Cheerio guys,

I want all pictures to be shown, that match the category "holiday" AND are taken in 2020. That kind of "image filter requests" I am facing frequently, espechially when having a nice evening with our friends and my wife has the super spontaneous idea to show them pictures on our HTPC...

To archive that, my wife must...

• serarch for <Created file date is between 01.01.2020 and 31.12.2020> AND <Category is "Holiday"> AND <Image format JPEG>

or

• add categories like "holiday" and "2020" to all holiday pictures, that are taken in 2020 (ideally done bevor that evening). Then select the categories "holiday" and "2020" while pressing CTRL

Both ways feel more complicated than necessary.
Serarching takes a lot of clicks to add conditions, define the time range, search in subfolders etc. etc.. My wife would never ever use that way.
Using categories is quicker but it means, that I have to manually add a "Holiday" category and a "Year-taken" category to all images. That hurts my digital soul, because all images already own the information of the year they are took in the meta-data.

Am I overlooking something? Any more easy and wife-friendly way?

While testing around I thought, I found a workaround by simply bookmarking the search result. When doin so, I can create a new bookmark, but when clicking on it (to reopen it), I get this error message:

This favorite points to a folder which doesn't exist.
Do you want to delete the favorite "Holiday 2020" ?

you want the result of saved search request, and not open each time the Search dialog, right?

Any more easy and wife-friendly way?

All my photos are stored in yearly folders, and have categories. In one click, I can get birthday photos from 2010 ...

You can use "Import and sort" tool, to copy photos into date based folders ... if your hard disk is large enough

Hi,
Not the OP but this would be very useful for me. For less complex searches (i.e. where filtering is sufficient), which is more likely for me actually, it would probably be more convenient to have the ability to save a selection of items from the Categories Filter tab as a 'view'.
Thanks for all the hard work on the software, it really is a useful tool and beats anything else I've tried overall.
