Transparent Image when saving as PNG file

hello all,
Ive recently discovered XnView and am using it to open and see dds files from games I'm ripping from. I'm having an issue where Ill auto auto adjust the image to get the desired color range and save it as a png which saves with a transparent background which I want but if I open it in photoshop it looks like the image is like 50% opacity and I have to duplicate the image to make it look 100%.
Not world ending, but it there a way in XnView when I save the image as a png its with full color transparency for the image but has that transparent background? Thanks! I am using the automatic levels and i'm not sure if that's what doing it? funny enough on one image i somehow managed to make it work but c'ant remember what i did haha
