Currently, MP catalogs a directory only when I first enter the directory.

Is there a way to trigger a catalog of an entire directory tree?

I have a tree that's got ~150k images in it, in directories of about 1000 each. However, cataloging 1000 files takes longer than I want to sit and wait, and cataloging 150k images would take forever. What I want to do is set up a catalog run and let it run overnight, so it's ready the next day.

Is such a thing possible? If so, how?

You can go to settings, metadata, and check "Import" option,, then go to settings, catalog, and click "Add" button... Then select the root folder for your photos (recursive is default behaviour) . It will take a while, about half an hour for 60 000 photos...

edit : The catalog in XnViewMP contains only : keywords, ratings, color labels ( and file paths and names)

edit : 06 2021 : For V0.98.3 and later, the "add" button is now named "Import Folder"
