It's December 2005 edition. I guess that it haves better support for new hardware and minor fixes / changes. It's always good to have the latest version.

The main difference is that these contain "Managed DirectX components" used by some games and software.

how come even on instaling directx 9.0c from game cd & downloading & instaling it the system fails to recognise it & still displays only directx 9.0c then unabling games needing directx 9.0c to run. my OS is Windows Xp Service Pack 2. Kindly reply at educationforall@hotmail.com

The DirectX 9.0c Redistributable is just 33.5 MB as usual.
