Cannot view network volumes

I have two Macs running XnView MP 0.98. on Mac OS Big Sur.
They both browse to the same network folders using AFP. Both computers login to the network drive using the same credential. One of them cannot expand the mounted volumes folders in XnView. It will only show network volume names but no folders are displayed. It used to be working but something happened. I can browse the same folder using Finder without issues. How do I reset everything back to default?

I have the same issue on Linux Mint 20.2:

I see all my folders, but the usual mountable targets (/mnt, /media).
My filetree:

Xnview listing:

Same here on Mint 20.1 Cinnamon, but it might be better posted under Linux?

When I insert a memory stick it can take me some six clicks to display it via Media... :(
