Thinking of a reorganization of my photo set, I foresee to put a major part of my photo assets on 2 external USB3 drives.

As I never did that before, I would like to know :

- Is it possible to catalog the photos of external drives as well as local images in DB?
- Then, when the drive is not connected to the computer, I should have the thumbnails and metadata in the database. So,If I search for images with a certain keyword, for instance, will it show me thumbnails of images on the external drive (not attached) as well as the thumbnails of local images?

yes, but you can't view the catalog if external drive is not mounted
