XnView Software

For checking:
1. Select a folder with many images
2. To all images assign a category ('category A')
3. Verify the category has been assigned successfully
4. Now select some images and assign an additional category to them ('category B')
3. Verify categories have been assigned successfully
4. Type the assigned category B in the quick search input field
Result: Quick search finds files with category B assigned and they get displayed.

Now
1. Select the category A from the Categories Filters pane.
2. All files with category A assigned gets displayed
3. Enter category B in Quick Search field
Result: The images with the previously assigned category B do not get displayed.

I'm not able to reproduce, do you write categories in XMP? sidecar?

This is weird, I have just reproduced it. Categories are only the one from XnviewMP database.
Quick search in folder finds files that have the search string in file name and/or assigned category.
Quick search on DB result finds only files that have the search string in file name.

The difference is on which it is applied, folder or DB result set. When I use Quick Search on the folder, the correct files get shown. When I use Quick Search on a DB result, e.g. when I have selected a category, then the Quick Search does not display correct files.

Oh ok, but the filter is always applied to same original file list. jpeg files? could you send me a screencast?
