convert output at 48 Bit instead of 24 bit forced conversion

Is there a chance to get 48 bit output support into XnViewMP?
Source (example): https://noirlab.edu/public/images/iotw2135a/ the "full size original"
Target: .PNG 48 Bit and / or 48 Bit JPEG XL.
Whether XnViewMP 0.99.1, XnConvert 1.92 or the command line nconvert 7.80: The resulting .PNG or .JXL is always 24 bit.
XnViewMP and XnConvert give the "converting RGB 8 bit" message.
In nconvert I see it detecting the 16 bit input correctly, but the PNG output is 24 bit too.
Using Affinity Photo: PNG 48 bit Output works - but it has no jpeg XL capability. Though I can use JXL tools from the developer https://artifacts.lucaversari.it/libjxl/libjxl/latest/ to JXL it as 48 bit afterwards, which views fine in XnViewMP 0.99.1 (not in 0.98, thx for fixing!)
