Hi, Love XnView for culling in Viewer Mode but ratings don't show in Browser Mode until after a quit and restart. A small but annoying bug.

do you ratings saved in catalog only?

I rate in Viewer and switch back to Browser. Not sure what else you mean - can't find any related Preference settings. Quit and Restart makes ratings show in Browser. Thanks, Mike

How do you switch back? Please send a screenshot of settings>Metadata?

OK, the viewer shows the image as rated. The browser with metadata shows the layout I use. I usually hit return or double-click to go into viewer and escape to go back. Hope this helps. Thanks, Mike

This problem is supposed to be fixed in XnView MP 0.99.7. Please check and confirm the bug fix here.

Was there ever a fix found for this? I am having the same issue but exiting the program and going back in is no longer fixing the problem. Thanks!

could you describe the steps to reproduce your problem?

Hi Pierre, thanks so much for your help.

When I click on a photo in the browser screen to enlarge it, my usual workflow is to mark photos with a 1 Star to do my cull selections and then return to the browser screen to filter by 1 Star. I then transfer the selections to a new folder to upload into Lightroom for editing. This most recent session, the 1Star rating isn’t sticking to the photos in either the browser screen or the screen where the viewer screen. If I mark a photo with a star, and then move onto the next photo, when I then go back to the previous photo marked, the star is no longer there. The stars are also not showing up in the browser screen. A reboot of the program used to fix this but doesn’t anymore. I installed the new updated version last night and the issue persists. It’s very bizarre because I was able to rate 212 photos in this current session and then the function stopped working completely.

So you rate in viewer mode? Do you write rating into embedded metadata or sidecar?

I’m not sure what that means to be honest - I hit ctrl + 1 to add a red 1-star rating once I’ve viewed the photo
