I have many photos with location data in their relevant IPTC fields eg Country, State, Cit,y Locality. Is it possible, using the "insert from" or "Copy to" functionality in the Edit IPTC metadata option, to load this location data into the associated image keywords? I got as far as loading location data from one image into several others but what I want to do is load the location data from each image into the keywords for that image ie not into all selected images.

you would like to import IPTC fields into categories? or into XMP keywords?

I would like to import location details (Location, City, State, Country) contained in IPTC fields within the image file into the IPTC keyword field(s). I had it in my head that XnView could do this but I was probably mistaken.

do you have tried 'Transfer' dialog?

Thanks Pierre that seems to work. Is there a way of making the transferred data append to the existing data in a field as opposed to replacing it?

in the text field, you can add the field + new one

I thought I observed the new one added still overwriting the old one. I'll try again

OK. I got it now. I didn't realise one could put more than one field in the box (as well as text). It worked with a single image so I'll try with multiple images when I can.

It is possible to load location data from one image into several others using the "insert from" or "copy to" functionality in the Edit IPTC metadata option. However, you want to load the location data from each image into the keywords for that image rather than into all selected images. This can be done by selecting the "keywords" option in the "insert from" or "copy to" menu.
