This is an old bug that started with the 1.80's right up to now. Open a video with XnView and the volume is 0% raise it to 100%, exit XnView and restart the volume is still 0%.

The bug seems to apply to all video clips (AVI,MPG,MOV,WMV)

Reproduced here with the steps you have described (Windows XP SP2).

When opening the xnview.ini file one can see that the 'Volume' value written is wrong:

[Player]
SoundOn=1
Volume=0

It's not always wrong, but most of the time.

Xnview - Browser, open a video in view mode?

Exactly.
1.) Open Browser
2.) Double-Click on Video (Image view will open and video will play)
3.) Set volume to 100%
4.) Close image view and exit XnView
Start XnView and open video, again. Volume will be 0. :bug:

This appears to be fixed in Beta 2.
I'll keep a close eye on it for now though.

OK, therefore will be moved to "Solved..." with shadow.
