0.99.7: 16 bit TIFF image fails to open or convert
Posted: Wed Feb 02, 2022 3:41 pm
XnView: MP 0.99.7
OS: Mac Monterey 12.1, running on M1 MacBook Pro with Rosetta
I received a warning that an image will be converted to 8 bit RGB when loading a larger 16 bit TIFF image. However, the display is just a gray checkerboard pattern. Image is a snapshot from an IP camera. Properties on the checkboard seem to report size, filetype, etc accurately. Image opens in Preview and other graphics programs.
The bug also occurred in 0.99.6 before I made sure I was up to date.
Effect: Cannot see or work with the image.
To reproduce:
1. Open Image file by double. (I am happy to supply it, but it is 150MB and can't be attached here).
2. Dismiss warning prompt.
3. The checkerboard will be there
Actual behavior (bug): can't convert or display 16-bit TIFF.
Expected behavior: should convert to 8 bit and display correctly.
