Hi, I've tried to search in the forum, but haven't found anything about this

XnView: MP 0.99.7 64bits (Jan 13 2022)
OS: Windows 10 - 64-bit

The number of tagged pictures - the one that is shown in the categories filter tree, under special cases TAG - doesn't change after the deletion of the file

Effect: the number of tagged pictures doesn't change
after deleting the file(s), selecting TAG from the categories tree show no picture(s)

To reproduce:
1. tag any picture
2. close XNView MP
3. delete the picture (from windows explorer, or by converting the file to another file format with the deletion of the original file)
4. open XNView MP
Actual behaviour (bug): the number doesn't change
Expected behaviour: the number should show the actual pictures tagged

workaround: restoring the tagged pictures in the original path allows the user to untag them

Thank you for registering, here, TheTMD. With your detailed bug report I could easily reproduce the problem.

O.k. the files are in the recycle bin but it doesn't make sense that XnView has tagged files which are located in the recycle bin. XnView should remove/update its tags whenever a file is moved to the recycle bin or a file is deleted.

there is no way to detect that if you delete file outside XnView, it's the same for categories...

Is there a way to get an updated number (e.g. by cache maintenance)?

I've just tagged a file and deleted it in XnView. The same behaviour/bug can be seen - number of tagged files doesn't change . When untagging a file the number of tagged files is updated and correct, again.

You have 'Synchronize folders' in settings

I've just tagged a file and deleted it in XnView. The same behaviour/bug can be seen - number of tagged files doesn't change . When untagging a file the number of tagged files is updated and correct, again.
