Rename folders upper case and lower case - Problem

Good evening, after having cataloged thousands of photos residing in an external hd, I decided to rename the folder written
in lowercase "mobile photo" in UPPER CASE "MOBILE PHOTO".
I immediately noticed that when I search for some images, I am shown twice the same thumbnail with exactly this path:
E: \ GABRIELLA GAZZOLA ARCHIVE \ WORKING \ mobile photo \
E: \ GABRIELLA GAZZOLA ARCHIVE \ WORKING \ MOBILE PHOTO \
in both thumbnails the metadata such as size, occupied space, millions of colors, etc. are correctly reported.
So I thought it was enough to exit the program, turn off the PC and the external HDD. I have restarted everything, but this problem still remains.
There really ARE NOT 2 files, it is only one, but visible in two different folders (even here it is only ONE folder renamed as explained above). In order not to throw away dozens of hours of work, how should I proceed so that ONLY the folder with the UPPER CASE name MOBILE PHOTO remains visible in the various searches?
Thank you for your reply. Greetings

First, you should be careful, not to lose your work ...
See my answer in your previous post (viewtopic.php?f=82&t=43094)
I don't know if categories are saved as iptc or xmp keywords in your photos .

If they are, you can try this (on a single file) :
Select both mobile photo and MOBILE PHOTO and click on > View > Update catalog from files.
Check the result ( metadata in info pane, categories, stars, color labels etc ..)

If it's a good way, you can select much more photos and update catalog ?

Otherwise, another way is to export the catalog into a xmp file, and try to repair it with a powerful text editor, but I would prefer that Pierre give you more accurate advice.

Merci Michel,
I tried how you type, but nothing changes, both lines remain as described (both lowercase and UPPER CASE).
Yet in this main folder it is written right,
image01.jpg
and there is only ONE file, while when I search with CATEGORY FILTER
image02.jpg
2 lines for 2 folders with 2 files etc. appear. with the correct ticks in the categories column ... in short, everything is double, why?
Here you see some windows with the settings: do I have to act in any of them, and if so I risk losing all the work?

Last thing: I understand that this database analyzes thousands of photos at the same time, for example creating thumbnails, rating application (stars), categories application ... it is not possible to bring up a window with the scroll bar indicating the percentage of work done ? (for example like when opening the program and creating thumbnails)

I thank you and Piero for understanding how to solve.

In Settings>Catalog, you can select the line with 'mobile photo', and delete it

Great Pierre, :-)
really a trivial thing ... to know!
Then all the old items in the catalog should be deleted. It would be useful - in my opinion - that the rows of the "ghost" folders do not appear in the list to avoid panic in the users, perhaps with a message when the program is restarted that warns of the presence of the latter and asks the user to delete them definitely. It's a thought huh.
A thousand thanks
Giacomo
