I am trying to use XnView MP version 0.99.7 and macOS 12.3.1 on an M1 Air along with.HIF (HEIF) files from my Sony a7 IV. Whenever I tried view the .HIF files, it opens Preview. Everything is installed and set up with defaults. Am I missing something? Is there anything I could check?

Open up XnViewMP, then browse to the images. Ten either 2x click or highlight and press enter.

In browser do you have the preview? Try 'View>Rebuild thumbnails'?

No, they have never displayed the thumb in the browser. Doing the rebuild doesn't change either.

Attached is what it looks like. The raw files I did blackout since those do display and don't want even the thumbs on the Internet.

I had tried that as well before and it didn't help. But just tried it again, and with the rebuild, and same issue.

I had the same issue using 1.0, and renaming .HIF to .HEIF does not help, however renaming it to .HEIC works! Hopefully XnView will be able to support the file without having to rename the extension.

I tried to upload the file as attachment, but it's too large, so I've uploaded it here: https://send.vis.ee/download/57c4a94576 ... LFNHESozOQ

Are HIF files supported now? I have lots of Sony HIF files and do not want to have to change the file extension for all of them. Lightroom Classic supports HIF files and so does the Windows Photo app.

Are Sony HEIF (4:2:0) and HEIF (4:2:2) files supported?

I think, are you able to view them?
