iMac: Duplicate images, duplicate files, ..

I love XnViewMP. I use it in Monterey 12.3.1 on a 19,1 iMac w 64GB RAM. I only have one suggestion: In someway speed up the refresh of images within a folder. I have 2000 images in a folder. If I open up Xnviewer to view the images in sorted order, I can't trust the images shown. The only way to trust the catalogue of image view is to RUN: Refresh, Rebuild Thumbnails, or Update Catalogue from file. Unless I do this before examining the folder contents, the XnView window lies to me. I will see duplicate images, duplicate files, images out of order. The images are all in the folder, but the XnViewer window showing the catalogue lies.

This is a real nuisance to open XnViewerMP and not trust what I see, unless I remember to reload the cache holding the image views.

Please speed up XnViewerMP. I love this app, but it needs efficiency.

If I took a screenshot of the thumbnail view sorted by numbers, I will see duplicate thumbnails occasionally in the 2000 thumbnail view. There are NO DUPLICATES, but I must REBUILD THUMBNAILS and REBUILD CATALOGUE. Which clears up the thumbnail view sorted by numbers.

Why do I have to manually rebuild thumbnails and catalogue to see the folder without duplicates in thumbnail view when I open XnViewMP in Monterey 12.3.1.

Why doesn’t XnViewMP remember in CACHE the last rebuild of the images in the folder? XnViewMP should open w thumbnails in order like I left it previously. But it doesn’t. I will get duplicate thumbnails occasionally opening the app in thumbnail view, rather than show the correct thumbnail. I must remember to rebuild every time I open XnViewMP because if left in this state, BATCH RENUMBERING will assign numbers to the duplicates.
