Subject: 0.99.7: CTRL-drag to copy files not working

XnView: MP 0.99.7 - 64 bit
OS: Windows 11/64bit

This file-handling procedure has worked in older versions, then it stopped working. It has been reported in previous versions and marked as "fixed." It doesn't work in this version. WIN normal behavior is that CTRL-left mouse button drag COPIES files to destination folder. Now using Shift or CTRL or no helper key at all just moves the selected file.

Effect: WIN users are familiar with the GUI and an app which ignores one of the most common GUI file-handling procedures is not well designed.

To reproduce:
1. hold down CTRL
2. press left mouse button with cursor over desired file
3. holding CTRL, drag file to target folder
4. expected behavior: file will be copied
5. Xnview behavior: file is moved

Actual behaviour (bug): file is moved, not copied :bug:

Expected behaviour: file is copied

Usage of "Ctrl" key for forcing copying of files and "Shift" for forcing moving of files is a very essential feature.

I've just tried with XnView MP 0.99.7 and it works fine for me. While dragging your file - what does the mouse cursor look like? Does the mouse cursor look like a plus sign or like an arrow? What happens if you release Ctrl and press it again while dragging? What happens if you press "Shift" and release it again while dragging? In which area/panel of XnView do you start start dragging and in which area/panel do you drop the files?

I don't know what the "Strg" key is. You mean "CTRL"?

When I use shift-drag it changes to + under the arrow and the file is moved. With ctrl-drag nothing happens at all. With drag on and then ctrl pressed, the arrow gets a + and the file is copied. The last two operations are wrong--Xnview should behave identical to the WIN gui. CTRL-drag should force copy, not drag-CTRL on.

I'm in the browser, detail view, and the target is in the folder-view panel.

Yes, I mean Ctrl key. ("Steuerung / Strg" is the German equivalent for "Control / Ctrl". I've edited the above post and corrected it.)

Thank you for your info, rybrns. Do I understand right: Pressing modifier keys Shift/Ctrl after start of dragging moves/copies your files properly, right?
