XnView Software

Hi,

I was prompted that there was a new version, so I downloaded v 1 and ran the DMG file. However, when I ran it the first time it prompted me for the catalog locations. I'm not sure if I used the default locations or not last time, but I did choose the default locations this time. I lost all my settings, including the category trees that I had spent so much time building.

Is there a way to import my old settings or to revert back to the previous 0.x version?

Strange, do you remember where settings was? Try to search for xnview.ini

No, I don't remember - I'm not even sure if I didn't use the defaults last time.

I searched for "xnview.ini" and "xnview" and did not find an ini file. I did find one "XnView.db". The records in the "tags" table seem to be intact. For example, I have a parent record 83 ("Photos") that has multiple items under it ("Jpeg", "RAW", "Png", etc). If I run "select * from tags where ParentID = 83;" it returns the correct records. However, in XnView MP, if I click on a picture then click the "categories" tab, the tree only shows "Photos" with one entry (and empty checkbox) beside it. e.g. it looks like ...Photos...Jpeg... It doesn't have the other items (like "RAW" or "Png") listed in the tree)

how many records do you have in Images & TagsTree? where is your xnview.db?

20204 records in "Images"

659 records in "Tags"

18228 records in "TagsTree"

My XnView.db is in "Macintosh HD | Users | Shared | XnView | Catalogue".

and when you go to Settings>Integration>Path - open location?

Aha! That was the key. When I go to that folder through the app it shows the .ini file PLUS another XnView.db file. For whatever reason, those files weren't showing up when I used Finder (even when I said to search system files and invisible files). So, it ended up being that I did indeed install it in a different location with version 0.x. I believe I did so in case I wanted to access the db from XnView on a different computer (which I never ended up doing). Once I pointed my "catalogue" and "other files" to those shared folders then all worked properly.

It would've been nice when I installed version 1 if it had picked up those values from version 0.x. But at least I got it fixed now.
