:) Hello !

- I have set the option, like one can see below :

¤ But I don't get any shadow on the board of thumb-nails :

- Let's notice that here are small pics as 21*21 - 24 BPP, there is room enough around to draw the shadow, I guess…

No problem here with tiny (16x16) GIFs and 32x32 ICO files.

Can't confirm, strange... Try restart xnview, rename ini.

Shadows require true color. They don't show up when just using 16bit display.

RIGHT !

:) Hello B. !

- Right! But I guess this is annoying. I'll add a note in my Manual…

- I use 16 BPP at display here because the shared memory, and 32 BPP (24 BPP is not available here with 1024*768) is really too greedy at RAM.

- Thank you !

 Kind regards,
Claude

Non-issue, close.

I disagree. There is an incoherence here, since the DropShadow effect can work with 16 BPP. So, this is an issue anyway.
Moreover, such a limitation¦lacuna should need at least a note in the setting dialogue like i.e. <needs 24BPP minimal>

There may be incoherence, but there is no problem to fix.
Drop Shadow option works by design only in 24-32bpp. It only lacks proper description. We may argue if it is good design, but that's another matter.
Drop Shadow effect may work even for 8bpp and that's OK as well.
