macOS : Mouse-Wheel does not work as expected
Hello,
I am evaluating XnViewMP and am pleased, so far.
But.
I have the mouse wheel set to advance to the next / previous images, but that seems to be buggy:
I can switch between images this way, but it is ... kind of inaccurate.
To be more precise, one click on the mouse wheel does not advance to the next or previous image!
I need to move the wheel more "fast" or "longer" to do so and often this results in images to be skipped.
In short, this feature cannot be used in this way!
Is there a way to fix this in-App or is there a macOS setting that can fix this behavior?
I also tried ApolloOne and this App does not show the same behavior - using the mouse wheel does work as expected!
Thanks for any idea!

your post was not in the correct forum. Which mouse do you have?
Pierre.

Hello,
the mouse does not seem to play a role here, even if i tried two cabled from Logitec and one Bluetooth from Logitech.
But then, OK - all three are from one company..
Still, other Apps just behave differently:
Normaly, one click with the mouse wheel will advance one image ... and this seems to work with all three mice and all other Apps.
But your App behaves a bit different, it requires a different movement with the mouse wheel, it just does not get the "clicks", it seems.
It is not easy to explain ...
A concrete click on the mouse wheel does not concretely translate to one switch between images.

I found this too
As a workaround I recommend MOS app.
You can set an override for XNViewMP. I have it buttery smooth scrolling now

MOS App?
Do you have a link, please?
But it would be better to fix XnView in this regard, or?

Re: macOS : Mouse-Wheel does not work as expected
Hello.
The same problem occurs in my Mac.
I'm using a Logitech M575 trackball mouse.
I was annoyed by this problem for a long time and refrained from using it,
I read this topic and wrote about it.
This problem did not occur until at least version 0.84.
I remember that it started to occur around 0.86.
By the way, using the MOS app did not improve the problem in my machine.

Yes, you will also need to find an option buried away in xnviewmp
It's really difficult to find settings, I spent 10 minutes and couldn't find it. But there's options like "view scroll content by thumbnail" tickboxe. Make sure to turn it off.
It will work. On an M1 MacBook here.
Best app for getting smooth scrolling working with 3rd party mouse:

Same here
Macbook Air M1.
Mouse scroll is buggy, not reacting, sleepy. So important but here totally useless. Using arrows for the same task is fast and accurate.
Using the same mouses (2 different Logitech) on other MacOS apps - works perfect, but not on XN-MP.
Using the same mouses (2 different Logitech) on my 10 years old windows PC - works perfect with XN-MP.
Didn't use older versions on Mac, only 1.00 and later.

Now, it seems to be a common problem, @xnview

I could not address you with @, it seems ... so I try a replyxnview wrote: Wed Sep 07, 2022 8:26 am your post was not in the correct forum. Which mouse do you have?

Many thanks for your attention.

A testversion?
Of course ....
You can see my mail address

Re: macOS : Mouse-Wheel does not work as expected
I can verify that this feature broke around 0.86 or so. Used to work perfectly, but you can no longer predict when mousewheel will switch to the next/previous picture. Logitech G700s at the time, now G502 Lightspeed, unrelated to any version of macOS. I remember reverting to an older version of XnView at the time and the scrollwheel started working predictably again.
I volunteer for a test version as well

Hello Pierre,
I tried to answer your PN.
But to be honest, I am not sure if that worked, as I can see such things:
From: tja
Recipient: tja
So please check if you got 3 replies from me:
1) That I will test in the evening
2) That the test did not run well (mouse not working at all in the test version)
3) That there can also be no continuous stream of images when using long movements on the mouse wheel - it get's stuck and needs another separat click on the wheel (with the regular version).I used different words to describe this in the PN
