XnView Software

Hi there,

I'm using XnView since years and I love it. But I just compared a test-image with XnView and Windows Picture Viewer and was confused why XnView is not showing the stripes on the wall which Windows Picture Viewer is showing. Why is that?

could you post a screenshot?

Displaying such pictures can give different results, depending on the material of your screen, the height of your eyes above or below the middle of the screen and especially the zoom factor.
You can try to turn it 90°, this can also change the rendering...

Some Internet browsers can also change rendering.

The fix was to deactivate "Use ICC Embedded Profile". Now the stripes are visible.

But I wonder wouldn't it be better to have that marker checker all the time to make sure all images will be displayed as intended by the creator?

I tried it with an other color managed image and compared it. The output should match Photoshop when "Use ICC Embedded Profile" is checked. But this time it doesn't matter if it's checked or unchecked - the colors appear slightly brighter/more colorful.

I can't see the stripes on the wall unless I uncheck "Use ICC Embedded Profile" and restart XnView.

I attached the original image file here. The embedded color profile got lost after uploading it to the imagehosting-site.

With this image it doesn't matter if I check or uncheck "Use ICC Embedded Profile" - it will look the same inside XnView. But very different from Photoshop. Of course my goal is to have a consistent look in Photoshop and XnView.

I have the same in XnView and Photo app, the profile is sRGB.
Perhaps you have a profile for your screen?
