1.3.1 - Edit IPTC - enabled for all formats in Viewer mode

XnView: MP 1.3.1
OS: Windows 64bit (22H2), display resolution 3840x2160, win scaling 150%
Edit IPTC form.
'Edit IPTC...' menu option (in Viewer mode) is enabled for formats that does not suppot IPTC.
There is no such problem in Browser mode
To reproduce:
1. run clean portable XnViewMP
2. open .bmp or .gif image in Viewer mode
3. goto Edit menu → Edit IPTC...
Actual behaviour:
Edit IPTC... form opens and allow to press Write button, but no metadata is written to the file.
Expected behaviour:
Edit IPTC... button should be enabled only for the formats that support it.

4. type/incert any data in any field(s)
5. press Write button
form closes, but no info is writen (fields are blank when you reopen Edit IPTC form).
Which option did you select in the "Mode" drop down menu, in "Options" tab ?
did you try on file types than commonly support iptc embedded metadata (JPG ) ?

my bad, I tried to write IPTC to .png
I will update inital message to reflect this issue.

This problem is supposed to be fixed in
XnView MP 1.4.0. Please check and confirm the bug fix here.

issue is still there, tested with .bmp file
my point was - buttons that open metadata edit dialogs (Edit IPTC/XMP/GPS, Transfer, Clean.. ) shall be disabled in menu in the first place,
user should not be able to open metadata edit forms if file-container does not support metadata
ps. related suggestion:
Metadata - unify menu group in Browser/Viewer toolbar and context menu

No i disagree, you can edit IPTC or XMP and save in jpeg
