XnView: MP 1.3.1 64bits
OS: Windows 64bit (22H2), display resolution 3840x2160, win scaling 150%
Viewer mode
Suggestion
Move 'Automatic Deskew' option to the top of the list,
so it is line with other menus in program (e.g. Image → Map)
Genaral approach of items positioning can be like this:
top - automatic items
mid - regular items
bottom - settings that can be ticked

Doesn't Automatic Deskew differ from other automatic operations (Automatic levels, Automatic contrast, are there others?) in that it is only applicable for a subset of images, those with a clear reference orientation?
As a more specialised operation, perhaps it is better placed lower?
And for consistency with Automatic levels and Automatic contrast, shouldn't it be written Automatic deskew not Automatic Deskew?

Well, yeah, I have not used it to be honest, expect it to work as Automatic Rotation that can be found e.g. in Lightroom.
Also it looks like it only deskew images by rotation, but as far as I understand, skewed images can be diamond-trapezoid shapes and that cannot be fixed by only rotation. So the location of this functionaly is also questionable )
Maybe that would make sense to group all of them (rotation, deskew, mirror) under Transform.
Speaking about positioning of such automatic but specific actions..
I'm 80% sure it is better to keep them at top as it will be consistant.
Also there are only few of them and it would not move focus away from main options too much.

tbh, I prefer capital letters for keywords, but I agree with you as almost all phrases in program have only first letter as capital

My experience is very limited, but I think it 'deskews' images by rotating the whole canvas, adding new canvas as needed to maintain a rectangular image. That can be useful when, for example, processing scans with text such as book pages, in which the text margin might not be quite vertical.

Consistency and attention to detail are important to me, I think we are probably in many ways like minds, but here I think the existing layout works, looks good, and I don't really see any reason to change it. And Pierre's time as the sole developer is limited, better to spend it on your many other useful suggestions!

Automatic Deskew to my surprise does actually work for that rather unpromising image with very small pixel dimensions, you can see the canvas added to make the resulting image rectangular, the added canvas can be set to white canvas using Edit > Background color...
