XnView Software

I have been a long time user of XnView MP and am trying to find a solution to a file resize issue.

- The resize of a single file or the batch convert of multiple files works fine for most of my jpg files,
- I have an issue with one particular file type. I own a Google Pixel phone that can take "portrait" style photos. The original file sizes are around 5MB for these "portrait" files. When I try to resize one of these files down to a size even as little as 450x600, the file size stays over 1.5MB.
- When I resize a phone camera photo that was not taken with the portrait mode on, then the file size is as expected, around 200 to 400K.
- I have tried the XNConvert with the same issue.
- Another item to note is the Pixel phone portrait mode photos have the ability to change the blurriness of the background after the photo has been taken so there is obviously extra data being stored in the jpg.
- Finally I did find that I can strip this extra information out using resizing apps on the phone instead of the computer, but I really prefer XnView MP as it is my main tool in my work flow. The "Resize Me! Pro" app by XnView unfortunately does not strip this extra data out.

Any ideas would be much appreciated.

It seems that you have big metadata in the original file, do you have tried saving without?

Thanks, I hadn't tried turning off "preserve metadata" in the output tab. The converted file is now much smaller size as expected.

I was hoping to clean out the big metadata but still keep some of the EXIF data like date taken and GPS location. I tried leaving the preserve metadata checked in the output tab and added an action to "clean metadata". In the clean metadata action, I checked all the boxes except the EXIF box. It looks like the clean metadata action is not able to remove the big metadata in the file like the output option is able to do.
