1.4.3 - Temperature effect works as Tint

Post by user0 »

XnViewMP 1.4.3 64bit
Windows10 64bit (22H2), display resolution 3840x2160, win scaling 150%

Viewer
Image > Adjust > Enhance colors (shift+e)
Batch convert
Actions tab > Map > Temperature

Issue
Temperature has Tint effect, not temperature.
It shall be either renamed to Tint or reworked to cold/warm effect.

Actual behaviour:
temp_xn.jpg
  • temperature
    min - green
    max - purple
Expected behaviour:
xn_new.png
  • tint (rename Temperature to Tint)
    min - green
    max - purple
  • temperature (add new Temperature effect)
    min - blue (cold)
    max - yellowish (warm)

Examples
This is how temperature/tint effect works in other programs:
  • Tint
    • Lightroom
      tint_Lightroom.jpg
    • ACDSee
      tint_ACDSee.jpg
  • Temperature
    • Lightroom
      temp_Lightroom.jpg
    • ACDSee
      temp_ACDSee.jpg

Note: programs have some difference in representing Temperature/Tint for JPEG/RAW
  • Lightroom
    different sliders scale:
    • JPEG - Temp and Tint -100 to +100
    • RAW - Temp (2000-50000) and Tint (-150 – +150)
  • ACDSee
no change in sliders scale, but added info in Kelvins

sure, but this effect is the same for all files I have
plane_jpg.zip
(1009 KiB) Downloaded 49 times

ps. also just noticed that Temperature does not affect 8-bit images at all (eg save this file as .gif).
I remember you have mentioned that (some) filters do not work with 8-bit images, but speaking about 'Enhance colors' dialog it looks strange that only Temperature has no effect on such images.
