Cannot save as jpg

Hi, I made a picture of the active (e.g. editor) window with ALT+PRINT and insert as new picture. This picture cannot be saved as JPG in the chosen folder. Folder keeps empty. But the Filename in XnView MP changes from "clipboard 1.jpg" to the desired name.
File can be saved as PNG and ends up in the folder like it should.
Windows 11 22H2 Build 22621.1105

Version 1.4.2 64bits (Jan 23 2023)

strange you have this error only with JPEG output format?

Maybe I made something wrong, I tried to save it as Guetzli jpg instead of normal jpg. Do I need some extra plugin for this format?
Regular jpg works.
Anyway, saving as Guetzli jpg is not working. Folder keeps empty.

No...
Regular jpg works., saving as Guetzli jpg is not working. Folder keeps empty.
Guetzli compression is only suitable for images with quite small pixel dimensions.
The processing time for larger images can be
very long, so likely that was the reason no file seemed to be produced, if you had waited long enough one should eventually have been output.

I tried it again giving it more time (>5min), but still no result.
Image has the dimensions 416x360x24 so it is not very large.
It is just a copy of the empty notepad.
When I save it I can see for a fraction of a second a progress bar running to, let's say, 100%.

Looks like a different problem then.
I actually had a problem myself recently attempting to save to a JPEG in 1.4.2 on Linux, and saved to PNG instead but moved on quickly without investigating.

We had the same issue in 1.3.X...
Situation was:
By forcing users (see: Settings/General/Formats/jpg) to "save as... jpg" (only option) instead of png etc., we eliminated all other options...
After the "save as" problem occurred we tried a few things:
- Install copy with old AppData setup = nope
- new setup with new xnview.ini (AppData) = "save as" fixed
- changed Settings/General/Formats/jpg ticked png and some others = "save as" fixed
