XnView should not rebuild thumbnails and cache on folder rename...

Post by Herman »

Dear XnView team,

I like that XnView's image caching is useful for quickly displaying thumbnail previews. However, I'm still bothered by when thumbnails and caches are created.

It takes a long time for XnView to generate thumbnails and cached images for a folder with a lot of images, which is fine, but after renaming a folder that already has thumbnails and cached images, XnView is triggered to generate thumbnails and cached images for the folder again.

If I find that the new name of the folder is not so good, I may rename the folder again, or I have a lot of folders to rename (I originally named the folder by the date, but later I found it difficult to identify, so I added the folder name with a short text description). It is conceivable that I will spend a lot of time waiting for XnView to rebuild the thumbnail and cache.....

My suggestion is that XnView should not rebuild thumbnails and caches for a folder that already has thumbnails and caches when the folder is renamed (if there is no change in the image files in the folder).

Please consider my suggestion. Thanks XnView team for your dedicated work and dedication to this great image viewer.

Sincerely,

Herman
