1.4.2: Browser filter blocking display of externally opened files
Posted: Sun Mar 26, 2023 7:33 pm
XnView: MP 1.4.2 64 bit
OS: Linux 64bit
If the browser filter is set to images only, on double-clicking on an MP4 file to play from outside of XNView e.g. File Explorer, XNView opens and shows a black screen with a small slide show toolbar at the bottom. Pressing play has no effect, and the only button that works is Escape to go back to Browser view. Similarly, if the filter is set to Videos only, clicking on an image from explorer opens to a black screen.
Effect: Video not playing or image not displaying. Confusion.
To reproduce:
1. Open XNView MP and in the Browser window, select the filter for Images only.
2. Close XNview
3. Find a video file in the file system and double-click on it.
Actual behaviour (bug): Black screen, no video playing.
Expected behaviour: Video plays regardless of sticky filter setting.
Swap the words image and video to get the same effect for images. I would expect the image to be displayed or the video to play regardless of my previous filter setting because XNView is my default image / video playing application.
