I have set Interface > Tabs > Maximum of view tabs = 1 and restarted XnView MP however when i double click image files in windows explorer it keep opening a new tab for each new file i double click in windows explorer.

looks like you have checked "Allow only one instance of XnView" in General>General tab
I guess in that case, if you limit tabs to 1 - single tab shall be reused for each new image

Yes, i have Allow only one instance of XnView option checked, but in addition to single instance i do also want to have only one tab all the time.

I believe this is a bug / omission to open new tabs when option Maximum of view tabs is more set to 1.

v1.5.5 is affected.

settings:
- allow only one instance [true]
- maximum of view tabs [1]

setting "maximum of view tabs":
- ignores when image opened via doubleclick from win file explorer (single Viewer tab shall be reused)
- works when image opened from Browser tab - single Viewer tab reuses for new images

Strange i can't reproduce with

no issue if opened from Browser tab

Thanks to your detailed description I can reproduce the problem.

This problem is supposed to be fixed in XnView MP 1.8.1. Please check and confirm the bug fix here.
