Paste a photo, does not stay selected. [solved]

to reproduce
1 Copy a jpg file in Windows explorer (or from any other place)
2 Paste it in XnViewMP browser. It seems to be selected. (I can then open "edit iptc" and add metadata)
3 Try to assign a category : impossible
4 De-select / Select again the file : categories can be assigned now.
I wish the photo would stay selected at #2
