Sidecar files show up in browser

I enabled sidecar files because I want to be able to rate and label movie files (.mp4). When I enable sidecar files, ratings and labels are persisted, however, the sidecar files also show up in the browser. I am using version 1.4.5.
I tried various things. These are my current settings:
Nothing seems to work. The only way I was able to hide sidecar files was by explicitly excluding xmp files using a custom filter:
