How to move from Lightroom to XnView

As I couldn't find and answer to my problem of reading Lightroom generated xmp files, I am trying it a different way.
Has anyone moved raw files with xmp sidecars (rating, labels, categories) from Lightroom to XnView. If yes, how did you do it.
