I have folder with images it organized like this.
Code: Select all
\Images\Main Folder\SubFolder1\image.jpg
\Images\Main Folder\SubFolder2\image.jpg
\images\Main Folder\SubFolder3\image.jpg
\Images\Main Folder\image.jpg
Need to generate previews for
SubFolder1,
SubFolder2 and
SubFolder3 without manually navigating into folder
Main Folder (this is oversimplified example, in reality have 26,000 images and couple thousand folders).
If i use option
Show files in subfolder it will hide all the folders and only show the image files that in all the subfolders, then thumbnails for
SubFolder1,
SubFolder2 and
SubFolder3 will not be generated.
P.S. Found that
Search function is not going to display folders.

I do have progress bar and XnViewMP successfully generates thumbnails for all the
image files that are displayed when i click
Show files in subfolder.
Problem is
folders SubFolder1,
SubFolder2 and
SubFolder3 are not displayed with
Show files in subfolder so
thumbnails for folders are not being generated.
It might seem minor issue however i have 100+ folders and each folder in addition to images has 50+ sub folders with bracketed images.
Every time i navigate to new folder XnViewMP starts to generate previews for that 50+ folders which hits the computer performance quite a lot.

Any feedback on this functionality?
Unless there is another way to force XnViewMP to generate thumbnails for
all image files + image folders for a particular location, this creates major slowdown when viewing large collection of files that organized with deep sub-folder structure.
If user wants large image collection to be cached into thumbnails prior to viewing he use
Show files in subfolder option and wait couple hours for program to generate thumbnails, even after this every time going inside folder still need to wait for
thumbnails for sub-folders to be generated, that impacts user experience a lot.
Especially if switching computers or often renaming the folders outside XnViewMP (then thumbnails catalog is not updated automatically) and have to regenerate it again.

when you go to a folder, thumbnail of subfolders are generated and added to the catalog, so next time no need to regenerate...

Problem is i have 100+ folders with images each of this folders contains on average 50 sub-folders with images for which thumbnails have to be generated every time i open folder.
For example i often move my images to new location, i dont want to keep them static as far as names of folders and files i change also a lot outside of XnViewMP this requires generating catalog again. after i done rearranging images i usually do regenerate thumbnails by using
Show files in subfolder.
Perhaps if there way a way to cache all thumbnails for folders with one click, rather need to navigate to every folder to generate images, this could be of great use.
