I remember seeing answer to this question before but can't find the post.

When rename the file with F2 and entering new file name I get "error renaming file" and nothing else.

The suggestion was changing codec decoder to 'merit' somewhere in klite codec tweak tool, but that's all I remember.

Does anyone have any idea on how to fix the above message.

I don't know this post but I know that you can install the K-Lite Codec Tweak Tool. After that, launch the tool and click on the “Fixes” button. It will scan the registry for issues related to codecs and filters. If it detects any broken codec or filter references, it will prompt you to remove them from the Windows Registry. Accept the suggestion to fix the issue. I think that it's the way to solve your issue.
