This problem is supposed to be fixed in XnView MP 1.8.1. Please check and confirm the bug fix here.

I updated to 1.8.1 and under video thumbnails I only see the name and date of creation. I checked in setting=>thumbnail=>labels and there are no option related to videos resolution or duration. Should I check something else in settings in order to see that info under the thumbnails of the videos?

Please add 'Image Properties' in Labels

Hello Pierre, I had already added “image properties” in the labels, but they only have effect on the image not on the videos. Video thumbs only shows the file name and date.

you need to change in xnview.ini

Code: Select all

	[Appearance] useVideoInfo=true

The useVideoInfo is working: [Appearance] useVideoInfo=true
But the "Image Properties" are listed in the Image.Labels, too.
The "Image Properties" are now just added to my existing image properties labels.

If the switch is set to "useVideoInfo=false" the labels line is colored according to the file type, but empty,
at both, the video and the image labels.

Wouldnt it be better to use the same labels for the same properties in videos and images?
and handle and fetch and show the labels according to the file types?
Or allow labels configuration in separate settings for videos and images?

Why not allow separate labels for Images, Audio and Video?

Why Image.Properties are now shown everywhere? <br />Why not create new Video.Properties only for video file types?

Please, video metadata in XnView definitely lags behind image metadata.

Here are a few suggestions:
  • Separate the resolution and video length/duration as different labels.
  • Make length/duration a sortable option, allowing users to list videos from shortest to longest or vice versa.
  • Allow customization of the length/duration display; seconds and milliseconds should be optional.
  • Lastly, as another user mentioned, isolate these labels from the image ones so they can have their own distinct ones.
