1.6.5: Sidecar files not being acted on when viewing search/filter results

Sidecar files are not being acted on (IE moved or deleted) when I am looking at search results, or a catalog filter

Effect:
When I move a file from the search/filter results, any sidecar files gets left behind. When I delete a file, its sidecar file is not deleted.
I am left with many orphaned sidecar files over the use of the software. Images lose their sidecar data when moved.

To reproduce:
1. Make sure program is configured to use and link companion files
a)File list -> companion files - ENABLE: Link companion files for the following actions: Delete AND Copy/Move/Renamed
My companion file settings
My companion file settings
a) Metadata -> Sidecar ENABLE "Update or create XMP Sidecar". Select "Yes" for at least 1 type of file.
My sidecar file settings
My sidecar file settings
2. Categorize or Rate a file which has a filetype you configured to use sidecar files. This will generate a sidecar file.
3. Perform a search to find that category or rating OR select the category or rating from the Catalog Filter.
3. Move or delete the file you categorized at step 2

Actual behaviour (bug): Sidecar file stays behind. It is not moved or deleted :bug:

Expected behaviour: Sidecar file should be moved to new location or deleted depending on what user did to the parent file.

Additional notes: This is not a new issue. It may have always been an issue but I was able to confirm this was an issue one or two versions ago at least.

Follow up question: After this issue is fixed, any advice on how to deal with or delete orphaned sidecar files? I'm mostly worried about ones left over from deletions.

There is a similar bug report also related to sidecar / linked companion files not being acted on. While these might not be the exact same issue, they both relate to sidecar / linked companion files essentially becoming detached and left behind.
Also on the topic of issues with linked companion / sidecar files, I have been able to reproduce the following on 64-bit version 1.7.2.
