XnViewMP 1.7.0 Tagging using category panel no longer works

XnView: MP 1.7.0 64 bit
OS: Mac 64bit Ventura 13.6.6

In previous versions I was able to add tags (categories) to images by selecting the image thumbnail and then ticking desired categories in the category panel. In 1.7.0 this no longer works. Categories can be still added by right clicking on the thumbnail and then using the category picker, but this is much slower and tedious if adding multiple categories.

It's working on my Windows OS ...
- Settings > metadata > "Export categories" ... "create xmp" ... "create iptc" ... should be ticked
- Select a jpg picture (not read only) , tick a category.
- De-select the picture.
- See if iptc keywords or xmp subject have been updated ?

It was jpeg. I reverted to XnViewMP 1.6.5 and it worked fine. So I've just reinstalled 1.7.0 and that now works too.
I haven't changed any of my settings.
No idea what happened. I suggest closing this report.
If it happens again I'll try investigating further.
