XnView Software

I run Trisquel on my main online PC and Zorin 16 on another associated with music-making. I have XnView on both - it has been for some time my first recourse for editing image files.
I have only recently come to the slideshow function of XnView, though I have run slideshows in other softwares over the years. In the music context, I prepare a set of slides of bits of a score, and then run the slideshow at an appropriate speed to give me a scrolling display to play from.
I can now (in XnView) create a slideshow, save it, and run it from the create sequence - but I can't for the life of me see how to simply re-open and run a saved show. Wiki suggests 'Pause' and 'Ctrl L', without making explicit the specific context in which to use them.
I have to say I am mainly a GUI user of Linux - would prefer not to have to get into using the teminal for this.

I have now with some difficulty created a slideshow with a sld extension, and am able to run it by selecting the file in the browser and hitting return, by double-clicking or by right-clicking on the file, selecting Open with.. and tediously scrolling down to XnView MP... I don't see any way in in Linux Mint Cinnamon to associate the extension with a program.

Maybe someone can suggest alternative and possibly better ways of launching a slideshow?

Regarding the Wiki, it tends to be out of date as it is not very actively maintained, and any information given for the earlier XnView Classic may not apply to XnView MP.

Thank you for this reply. I've continued to fiddle since posting, and have noticed (a) XnView itself is significantly different re slideshow in the two installations I've mentioned and (b) in both there is an icon on the top bar for slideshow.
I don't use that bar routinely, so hadn't noticed it. But in both, though not identically, the icon initiates a process to run a saved *.sld.
Generally speaking (ie wider than just Xnview2, now) such icons are directly related to a menu item and often a specific keystroke, but I haven't yet found any such correspondence in XnView.
