Option to select default jpeg encoder
Hello. It would be very useful to have an option to select default JPEG encoder (JPEGLI, JPEG/JFIF, etc). Now when you press "Save" on jpeg-file it compresses with JPEG/JFIF and I can't find a way to change that. I want file to be encoded as JPEGLI by default, when saving.
Re: Option to select default jpeg encoder
The choice is only when You click "Save As", but not when You click "Save" (Ctrl+S) after open jpeg file. In this case jpeg is only from JPEG / JFIF codec (jpeg-turbo?).
IMHO since Jpegli is the best, I would permanently set it to "Save".
Re: Option to select default jpeg encoder
so it will better to choose encoder in Settings>Write>JPEG?

Re: Option to select default jpeg encoder
Good idea.

This problem is supposed to be fixed in XnView MP 1.8.4. Please check and confirm the bug fix here.

Re: Option to select default jpeg encoder
I can not confirm fixing this.
When I make some test image in Export using Jpeg-li setting 98% quality, this new file has estimated 88% quality, which is correct for this codec.
When I open this image, set in setting for JPG files exactly this same parameters like in Export and make Ctrl+S, the new file is much bigger with estimated 98% quality, like in older JPG codec.
