Save to .FIF format?

Hello,
I have an old (pre-2000) piece of software that utilizes a .fif file type to display images and I have been struggling to find any type of software that will convert images to and from this extension. The company is now defunct so I have no source code and the software will only recognize this file type. The XnView software is able to convert a .fif file type to a .jpg and the like, but is there a way to convert a .jpg back to a .fif?
