i have about 2k folders with with less then 1k photo in each with DEEP folder structure and no chance to change it
if i will see subfolder photos when scrolling them - it will be like a MIRACLE...but - xnview mp - i should click like 'Show all file in subfolders' on EACH folder i need... other software - almost the same...brrr..
If Xn View MP will do it - you will beat all other image apps:)

				I did not try ...
A workaround :
If you do not use any keywords nor categories in Xnviewmp :
- Settings > Metadata : No options checked at all
- Settings catalog : clean the unwanted entries in the table if you want to exclude corresponding folders
- Settings catalog : click "Import folder" and choose the parent folder of all your pictures... wait for catalog building ...
In the "Catalog filter" pane :
- in the "Match" drop down menu, select "Global" option
- select "Special items" > All
... all the photos will be displayed
Sometimes you may wish to display the photos from a specific folder and all its subfolders:
- Display this folder's content in the browser
- In the "Match" menu (catalog filter) , select "Current folder, recursive"
- "Special items" >All
If you were using some categories or keywords , we may need to think differently.

it cant help if deep folder structure
well, i am already start to write own app for subfolder photos ..
I don’t understand why image app developers are afraid to give rights to view subfolders - probably they think RAM wasted to it will be used for dev dollars....no idea

You mean don't reset "Show files in subfolders" to OFF when changing folders (eg like in CaptureOne)?

				+1
"Show files in subfolders" should retain its state:
- session-wise
new tab opens with default OFF and retains manually changed state until closed

 OR
- persistent
state is saved after restarting the app until it is changed manually (like in CaptureOne)
I prefer persistent variant

Now that we've cleared up what we're talking about, +1 from me too.
Ideally a choice for per-session or persistent, and while we're there, would I be exaggerating if I said at the folder level??
Probably so.
But that would be cool.

See XnThusiast's post above.
Session = this particular time using XnView. When one closes the program, it returns to its default behavior.

its better to get ability to choose both in options
