It's very easy to mis-click just outside the selection rectangle when trying to resize it and so lose it. It would be very useful on a selection being lost through a click-drag or click to add it to the undo, then one could just do a Ctrl-Z (if wished a distance check could be done to see if it was a click almost on the rectangle edge that lost it, but I think it would be useful when lost under any circumstances).
