Incorrect Display of Face Tag Regions in Portrait HEIC Images

XnView MP version 1.7.2 64-bits
Windows 11
I believe face tag regions in HEIC files are being incorrectly displayed in portrait photos from iPhones. The attached screenshots are from XnView and digiKam. digiKam displays the face region rectangles correctly. XnView displays them correctly for the landscape version, but for the portrait version, the rectangles appear to incorrectly placed as if the rotation process was not done properly. I can provide the test HEIC images as well if you advise on the best way to send.
The two images were taken with an iPhone which performs the face detection and embeds the region information in the metadata. The camera was alternately held in the portrait orientation and the landscape orientation. The images were then downloaded in the "unmodified" format from iCloud to a PC.
Thank you
