i love xnviewmp so much!

but i see xnviewmp use EXIF for insert information to setting>view>INFO..

but EXIF is poor information..so i check EXIFTOOL: proprieties have a lot information..

for this i want to ask you: "why" xnviewmp to use EXIF instead EXIFTOOL...???

what is version of EXIF...?

somethings not read exif to specially to file RAW: CR2 ( can read exif example: LENSID, but other RAW not read.. instead EXIFTOOL can read all raw...
for this reason i don't understand xnviewmp used EXIF to use it as feature..

please to Pierre , can reply here to explain, why chose EXIF instead EXIFTOOL..

EXIF is metadatas, Exiftool is not

Currently there is no way to use ExifTool output in Infos

oh.. ok but why can't EXIF to show all metadatas...why EXIFTOOL shows many metadatas? i use EXIFTOOL is rich information..

so...dear pierre, i respect you all things, but in future: can you planner new feature for full metadatas (image, RAW..)please...

You can use Fastphototagger, it's a freeware, ExifTool based, in which you can choose any EXIF data (and iptc and xmp) that can be edited by ExifTool... It's not as smart as XnViewMp, but completely configurable.
It is able to handle all these chosen metadata in it's database

ok i try pastphototagger.. oh fastphototagger use EXIFTOOL...
i like xnviewmp but you can explain to pierre for new feature replace from EXIF to EXIFTOOL (like example that fastphototagger used EXIFTOOL)...?

EXIF is limited, especially for RAW files like CR2. EXIFTool would give more details, but maybe they stick with EXIF for simplicity.

This depends on what you mean by “custom field”

In Fastphototagger, the user chooses which fields to use, from the complete set of metadata that exiftool can offer.
You then check the ones you want to use in the database for queries, otherwise these fields will only be used for display or writing.
They must be declared in this table And the first column can be edited (and translated) by user.

- Example using .exiftool_config file for exif makernotes : https://exiftool.org/forum/index.php?topic=5563.0 but that's beyond my capabilities.

This problem is supposed to be fixed in XnView MP 1.8.1. Please check and confirm the bug fix here.
