Batch convert - filelist
removing file affects Browser/Viewer filelist

to reproduce:
0. have 2 files in folder
1. open any of them in Viewer OR
1. open folder in Browser and select any file
2. press Ctrl+U to open Batch convert
3. goto Input tab and remove file
file will disappear from Viewer/Browser filelist

Thanks to your detailed description I can reproduce the problem.

This problem is supposed to be fixed in XnView MP 1.8.3. Please check and confirm the bug fix here.
