Where can I set the colour pasted when a selection is deleted? [Solved]

When one selects an area for crop and uses delete, a colour is pasted on that area, I want to change it. Over the years, I have seen it sometimes be white and sometimes be black. Where can I change it?

No that doesn't work for this. In fact no background colour setting works for this. There was a setting for this when I used to do this on a regular basis few years back, but I don't remember anymore.

I've just checked and it is working for me in MP 1.8.0:
There must be an explanation why it isn't working for you, but I've no idea what it would be...

Thank you it does work. I was just frustrated and mixing this setting with the ones in settings.
