XnViewMP 1.8.3 64bit
Windows11 (24H2), display resolution 3840x2160, win scaling 150%

Browser/Settings

Suggestion

rename Date
- unify naming to 'Date created'
- use 'File:', 'EXIF:', etc (or use space instead of semicolon) when it's required to define further
  • Browser > View > Sort by
    - Date → Date modified (switch to Details view to check that Date = Modified date)
    - Created Date → Date created
  • Browser > View > View as [Details] > Header
same in tools (eg Batch convert)
    - Modified date → Date modified
    - Created date → Date created
  • Properties > Properties tab
    - Creation date/time → Date/time created
    - Modified date/time → Date/time modified
    - Accessed date/time → Date/time accessed
  • Settings > View > Info > ▶
    - Accessed date → Date accessed
    - Modified date → Date modified
    - Created date → Date created
    - Placeholder - Create Date and Modify Date → META: Date created and META: Date modified ? (▶ > Extra)
  • Settings > Interface > StatusBar
    - File date → Date (as there are 2 comboboxes right after this label with File/EXIF options)

rename Ratio
  • Settings > View > Info > ▶
    - Width/Height Ratio → Ratio Width/Height (▶ > Image)
    - Height/Width Ratio → Ratio Height/Width (▶ > Image)

Example
  • XnViewMP, digiKam, windows file explorer
    metadata_date.png

in ExifTool, we have

Code: Select all

Modification Date/Time
Access Date/Time
Creation Date/Time
better than

Code: Select all

Modified date/time
Accessed date/time
Creation date/time

maybe like this?
  • File date/time
follow the way it is worded in Windows:
    - Date accessed
    - Date modified
    - Date created
    - Date taken
  • Exif, IPTC, XMP date/time
    leave as is
