Batch append keywords to XMP/IPTC

I've been experiencing with the batch processing of images using XnView MP. For the moment I can select a bunch of images and go to Edit IPTC/XMP and input a keyword like "key1" into the textbox under "keyword" and click "write to all files" and all the images will have "key1" in their metadata. However, if I repeat the same process to add another "key2" to these files, the "key1" info will be overwritten, unless I add "key2" then "key1" again. This means every time I do this, it's an overwrite and not an appending. What I want is that I don't need to know what's already in the metadata, I just input the keywords I want to add, and they're appended to the files (not adding the same ones if they already exist, of course).
Is it possible?

I figured it out. Instead of editing IPTC/XMP, just choose "edit IPTC". Then in the last tab "options", tick all three checkboxes (the first being "keep existing, append new")
