Configure programs - gimp won't open any images (MX Linux 23.4, KDE Plasma)

Hi.
MX Linux user here, KDE Plasma v. 5.27.5
For some reason, adding Gimp to list of alternative apps doesn't work for me. Simply put, after I right-click on a thumbnail in viewer, Open with --> gimp-2.0 , nothing happens. No dialog box, no new window. I'd expected that Gimp started.
I'm confident I have put the correct path to Gimp executable - I've double checked by copy and paste in terminal window, and Gimp starts without any issues from within Terminal.
Is this a bug or are there a workaround for this?
