Viewer automatically scrolls away if opening excluded formats

Windows 10, XnView MP 1.8.3
By excluded I mean file formats that are skipped when scrolling through images in the viewer so I'd have to open them manually. I'm not talking about file association (formats that are set to be opened with XnView MP by default). I'm talking about files that would be affected by a filter in Settings > File list > Customs Filter > Exclude.
When I open one of those excluded files it automatically skips to the last file of "included" format after about five seconds and so. If there is no "included" files in the folder, it stays open but a bunch of icons get greyed out on the toolbar so I guess it still tries to scroll back.
Setting XnView MP as default software for that filetype has no effect on this behavior.
Same files are viewed normally when removing their format from from excluded or adding it to included filter.

Tested with other versions.
This issue is present in 1.8.2, 1.8.1
It isn't present in 1.6.5, 1.7.2 and 1.8.0, and it behaves as if manually opened excluded file is the only one in the folder so scrolling back/forth does nothing.

which settings do you use, and how to reproduce

to reproduce
0. have test files in folder
1. goto Settings > File list > Custom filter
- add BMP format to Excluded
- press OK, close app
2. open 3.BMP in Viewer from win file explorer
image will be opened, but after a few seconds it will be closed and focus will shift to the last file
expected behavior
keep excluded image open, but probably exclude it from filelist when user switches to another image

excluded image stay open - OK
however, there is issue with sorting in Viewer filelist
image will be added to the end of filelist (5/5 using test images)
if you wait 5 seconds and press Ctrl+R to reload image - it will be placed in correct index position 3/5
same issue when open (via double-click in file explorer) associated images in Viewer that do not have XnViewMP.xxx keys in registry
related
1.5.0 - browser - raw opens in new instance (A)

ok, but need to update index position (in statusbar, overlay info, maybe somewhere else) once sort is finished
